Hey Fashionable Friends! Did you know that the "basic" pieces many influencers talk about are actually quite different from person to person? Our preferences depend on our lifestyle, and actually, some people need two "wardrobe" types in their closet, or even three, which is what makes it tough to put a wardrobe together until you understand what those shopping rules are for you! Thankfully right now is a wonderful time to choose your favorite way to put together your closet. As we have seen during these quarantines, those lines are blurring significantly. Have you determined a basics "guide" for yourself? Some of my personal choices are: -go with pants over a dress -don't wear cropped pants and sleeves -stick mainly to v-neck tops -love horizontal but not vertical stripes -just avoid the shoe/bag section at the beginning of the season Before I chose to stick with these shopping guidelines, I ended up with too many beautiful dresses hanging in my closet, never to see the light of day. A lot of this comes through trial and error. One awesome fast track to a successful closet is to pick a great silhouette for you, and consistently choose only items that match it. It's a great idea to start is to start a fashion inspiration "folder" either on Pinterest or on your computer! I've found so many photos even off of online shopping websites where they arrange the models in such pretty outfits. I just screenshot the image into my folder. Another easy way I've recently discovered to find specific items is to use your explorer search bar. I discovered that if I type very specific keyword items I'm looking for, all the stores that are selling it pop up right below! You can click the right hand to keep browsing all the options, and often online stores that you prefer to shop at show up first. Here's an example of the results I got when I searched: dark brown oversize blazer on Google. Now that I know this, finding cute clothes has been too easy! With the help of these tips and sticking to my shopping rules in the past few months, I've managed to find an array of beautiful basics that I find myself grabbing for on a constant basis. The majority of these can be upgraded into your sexy evening outfit with a touch of jewelry and accessory change. One thing I've found is that I love v-neck knits. Whether it's layering them over a button-up or tucking them into some jeans, I can't get enough of them! Here are some of my favorite recent purchases of this basic. $189 Reformation Hart Sweater similar for 59$ off A&F here This lovely cashmere knit combines so many of my favorite things (puff sleeves, v-neck) into the perfect sweater. Some outfit ideas I would recommend are to layer it over a white button-up shirt dress with thigh-high boots, or pairing it with paper-bag trousers, sneakers, and a long trench coat. The very special thing about this top is the color. It is a GORGEOUS neutral that matches EVERYTHING I own! V-Neck Long Sleeve Sweater Zara $35.90 This is a classic and comfortable shirt I own in black, brown, and am tempted to purchase in green as well. It's very finely knit, stretchy but not sheer. I love to wear this with a delicate necklace, straight jeans, or a long cardigan robe. The buttons reflect either gold or silver, depending on what I'm wearing, and are a flat modern style without any embellishments. Most of all, I love the ribbed bottom that keeps a nice smooth surface over my hips when I wear baggy trousers or as I tuck them into my waist. Rib-knit Wool Blend Sweater $25 H&M I'm just beginning to experiment with oversized styles. When grabbing an oversized sweater at this time of year, you want it to be heavy enough to keep you warm because it's almost too big to drop a jacket on top of. This wool version looks great over a thermal, or pair it as I do with a white turtleneck, tapered pants, and some loafers. Once winter comes, this will be that reach for top for that stylish outdoor brunch (because COVID) in a coat and beanie. Thank you all for subscribing! Are you excited to shop black Friday deals? They are already happening at so many stores. I already picked up a few things for myself! Will share soon.
The Bottoms You'll Need to Keep Autumn Style Popping
Because quarantine and worry has put an emphasis on comfort for all of us, most of my new clothing items this Fall are simple. This year, I have a good handle on how to organize my clothing with pieces I will want to mix and match. So this is a breakdown of a few important purchases I have made to fill out my Fall closet. Since the weather remains mild here into November, I feel like long sleeves and a jacket are sufficient to keep myself comfortable. The outfits that I return to again and again are really quite basic to throw together. If you are trying to purchase something trendy and stay on budget, you can't go wrong with cool bottoms. This way you can incorporate the season's latest styles without spending 100$+ on a jacket or dress. For example, I focused my spending on the leather trend. See some examples below! Extra Long Faux Leather Leggings ZARA $35 Tight Faux Leather Waistband Leggings H&M $35 Faux Leather Short with Silver Buckle H&M 35$ Next, I tried some options in styles I've wanted to own, but was hesitant to try until I figured they are sticking around. During this crisis, I have actually been pretty happy to have a chance to broaden my shopping choices as I can get opinions from family and close friends without ever seeing strangers! The two options I picked are baggier pants. Of course, the boyfriend/mom jean is as comfy as it gets. I love this perfectly blue pair I discovered from Zara! They are a cotton blend that is a great quality just as you can get at Levi's or from Agolde. I really want to get them in black as well. I just adore the length and fit which looks good with sneakers, boots and pumps. Mom Fit Jeans ZARA $40 I have also been wanting, for two years now, a pair of dressy flowy pants as a formal option. I have accumulated over the past couple of summers a couple of cropped blouses that aren't right to style with a skinny pant. I am super happy with the Mason Pant off of Reformation. The little pleats help cinch in the waist in an elegant way, and I'd add even more glam by looping a belt through. Mason Pant in Khaki Reformation $178 I hope you have enjoyed this breakdown of some pant styles we are seeing a lot of this Autumn! I'm enjoying the beauty and wonderful weather we are getting, I just want it to continue on so I can wear these cute purchases as much as possible. And, for your reference, if you guys are interested in any of these pieces, I am 5'8" so some of these do look a little short in general on me! I will mainly wear boots with these looks to keep the line flowing. My next post will be all about tops, and as winter approaches I will be looking at a couple of long coats. In late November, everybody's outfit is gonna be covered up so that is a time that I love to show off cool accessories. What are you going to be shopping for in the coming weeks? Do you like any of the brands I've mentioned? Thanks for checking out my blog and especially to those of you who have recently subscribed by email! So looking forward to getting to know you guys.
Now's the time of year when we roll out our end of summer hauls, shop for the last cute tank tops on sale, and start to find new basics for fall. I've been shopping around every sale and checking out new stores that I've never tried before, which is how I came across this beautiful basic cream blouse online. This is my first time trying clothes from Princess Polly and I love the quality. Their summer styles and fabrics really are suited to hot days, well worth the spend. I've fallen in love with this unique look, from the tie string sleeves to the cool vintage buttons. It's so chic and beautifully done. The fabric is airy and light yet not see-through, in fact I was able to keep on a black bra on for this photoshoot. I decided to wear it with my comfy bright blue shorts and canvas sneakers. This top will transition well to a night look with a silk skirt and heels, or to the office under a gorgeous suit. Do you like wearing long-sleeves in the summer? I find it a lot comfier than a jacket + tank top for going into buildings. Just tuck it into your shorts on one side and your good to go with a cute outfit!
I recently understood that there is a gaping hole in the chasm of my closet, and it is: fancy summer tops. I've got plenty of lace, sparkle, and shine to wear all winter long. Yet in hot weather, my selection of beautiful tops for dinner dates and glamorous events is lacking. It's been a long time since I've wanted to make a great impression on anyone (my wedding, a couple of job interviews). June just marked our four-year anniversary! I want to make a bigger fashion statement in my life on the daily then I have in the past. I'm turning 23 this week and it's a cool marker for me, want to take bigger strides toward my goals now. I was searching for something untraditional and dynamic, very dressed up. I figured a UK-based store would have more of what I'm looking for since all the fashion bloggers that have any drama in their wardrobes seem to be from there. Riverisland hit it out of the park! Their prices are right on, and so is their quality. I love the attention to detail in this ruffled black shirt. I purchased two other "dressed up" shirts from their collection and they all fit like a glove. The sparkly ring adds some beauty in addition to the puffy sleeves, and I like the little bit of cleavage it allows with a deep v-neck. I paired this outfit with trendy lace-up sandals and patterned tribal shorts from H&M. Blue, black, and white keep it classy. I added a lovely black bag while matching metals and held the chain in my hand to balance an accessory off with that belt buckle. Keep checking back to see me style the other two tops I purchased! What I'm Wearing -Black Ruffle Top with Buckle Detail -Blue and White High Waisted Shorts H&M -White Strappy Sandals Schultz -Black Chain Bag B.T.
I'm not necessarily one for much layering, it's definitely an area where I want to step it up. I love to wear my tank tops in the summertime and often need to cover up before going into a building. I absolutely love this pretty color combination. Pastels in this category make a beautiful match. These shorts are basically bright blue and add a fun touch. I have owned this blazer and high waisted shorts for ages and they are both favorite items of mine. I bought the mint tank top from forever21 recently on my first shopping trip since our health crisis started. To put together this look I basically just went through my closet with the tank top on the hanger and put it up against a couple of items one by one to find a great outfit combination. After picking that, I chose an accessory color (white) and added a necklace that allowed some mixed metals. By the way, I didn't notice until I finished shooting but the necklace is lopsided for most of the photos.. drives me crazy, how about you? Anyways, shop the links below to get this cute look for yourself! Mint Tank Top $12.00 40s Zoot Short $250.00 It's so great to wear shorts with a gorgeous summer heel and I hope you love this look too!
Two Top Quality Heeled Beachy Sandals For Nights Out
This summer the hottest trends have revolved around your shoe game. There is so much new to shoes this summer, from the square-toed pump to crazy bubble stilettos. Designer knock offs of popular styles from Bottega Veneta have made their way into Steve Madden, River Island, and other quality brands. In other words, you're gonna find some incredibly sexy, long-lasting shoes at a bargain. And the two newest additions to my shoe closet are: - strappy white rope sandals at the perfect 3" height for a comfortable and graceful fit from Schutz found here from revolve.com. These heels are pretty, casual, and beachy, the perfect style for a summer getaway or a drinks night playing pool. I chose this particular pair because the way it wraps around the ankle is very comfortable. The texture of the strap allows it to stay put while the metal stoppers at each end make it easy to keep taunt loop at the top with no knot needed! - and Black mule sandals with a gold stiletto from river island are a beautiful complement to anything from a little black dress to a suit set. These shoes feature a leather finish with a toe loop that keeps them securely on. I love the easy slip-on style of these heels! Everybody needs a pair of black and white shoes for each season. I love how easily I was able to find both formal and casual shoes this season in my favorite styles. You can quickly find a pair similar to these lovely heels by browsing here. Share with me where you got your favorite styles here or on Instagram! I'd love to hear all about your coolest finds.
It's always special to find a hot midi dress to love. They are so easy to throw on and make every woman look fabulous with the most basic of accessories! This bright neon green inspires me to be so creative. I'm a sucker for a tight dress. I get a real confidence boost from this outfit and feel ready to take on anything! I like to experiment with color, especially in the summer. I opted for a simple camel toned sandal and yellow tote bag for some fun contrast in this outfit. The ribbed fabric is not see-through at all and is structured enough that I feel comfortable wearing it out and about without any shapewear. I feel like it is also versatile enough for a night look with a quick change of accessories. How often would you wear this hot neon green dress for Summer 2020? Get it here!
Cream Structured Shorts Casual Outfit For Summer 2020
I do have a few pairs of denim shorts, but since denim is so stiff I rarely wear them in enough to want to go out in them. This pair, however, is textured denim mixed with (cotton, maybe?) and is super easy to sit down in. I love the black stitching that surrounds out the pockets and waist. I also feel like they are a great length and don't go too short for any ordinary day. I styled these high-waisted cream shorts with my fun black tee from free people and a pair of flip flops. With structured pockets, waistline, and the fun graphic style I feel very comic-book glam. A super fun outfit that looks semi thought out for wherever your heading! I like to try to incorporate certain items into my closet year-round. At the end of February, we end up with some high sales on things from New Year's Eve that didn't sell out. I purchased this crop top then, and it caught my attention with the red and black poppies print. Although it feels wintery, the puff sleeves are so flirty, and since I haven't taken a night out in ages, I planned out this look to repurpose the top to daytime. I'll feel pretty and classy as I spend the day running errands, getting my nails done, or taking kiddo to a playdate. As you can tell, I do cycle between many styles, especially in the summertime. I like to adjust things according to the weather and bounce around between dresses, jeans, shorts, and skirts. I have so many bottoms that I realized I need to go out and get a bunch of summer tanks and t-shirts because I've got basically none. I spend a considerable amount of my shopping budget on dresses and jeans, but on the other hand, buy my tops almost exclusively on sale or at a lower cost. Would you pair this look with jewelry? Chunky black sandals? A hair accessory? I love having timeless pieces to style around in my closet. I mix well-priced tops from stores like H&M with beautiful essentials like this skirt that I can wear over and over again. You can get a hold of this style for yourself from a sweet local business or online at their shop :) Link is down below. What I'm Wearing: -H&M Smock Sleeve Poppy Blouse -Fall For You Skirt by Line and Dot -Vintage Black Bag from Goodwill -Tan Leather Sandals from Target
Beautiful Blue and White Dresses are Summer's Best
The best summer trend this season is definitely the day to night dress! With a quick change of accessories, this blue and white style fits right into my closet for the busiest of days. These past couple of summers I have been seeing more and more of this beautiful pattern, inspired by china pottery. I've been hoping to come across one to wear myself. I found this one at a local boutique and fell in love! I feel dreamy and light in this gorgeous dress. A long midi dress is fantastic in hot summertime. A basic style like this can be the focal point of your outfit. The engaging pattern makes me very creative! I plan to try a couple of things with this look. A white button up shirt can be worn, knotted at the bottom for those windy outdoor days. Grab an oversized blazer and some black kitten heels and belt this for a night look! Or take a white Michael Kors tote bag (see here) and a statement necklace to the local roses garden for a photo op! I just love how the simple fit inspires me to experiment. Here are some similar dresses you can purchase from your favorite retailer to dress up or down in your own style. Just click on each picture to shop! Thanks for reading my thoughts and please subscribe to this blog! I'd love to bring you more content.
It can be hard to make certain styles work if you aren't comfortable with mixing colors. For this reason, I stick to only two color options when I am unsure how to wear a new item. Typically the easiest color to add to the mix is blue! This cute wrap skirt is a very breezy fabric that looks like denim but wears like linen. I'm so pleased to find such a bright and unique shade! It is simple and minimal. This cute wrap skirt is a very soft fabric that looks like linen but feels like a straightforward suede. I decided to keep with the relaxed style it gives away. After some trouble choosing something that goes, I realized it would overwhelm the beauty of the color to style with my usual black or white. So I decided on a bone-colored short sleeve shirt from Target. Then I grabbed the slip-on sandals to match. This allows the color to stand out! I feel cool and funky in this look. How to Wear High Waist Pleated Shorts: Three Outfits
I like to keep it simple on hot days. A chic short, chosen carefully, is that stylish but functional bottom we all want during summer. Let’s talk about this pair. It’s essential to have a bright-colored pair of shorts to mix and match with fancier items to keep your summer style elevated. This tan pleated style is super for that. I was so happy to discover shorts of this quality at Target! They are a gorgeous dupe for this pair $150 style from Rails. You can purchase them for yourself as I have right here! And now, here are three outfits you can quickly copy to keep your looks dreamy all season! It’s easy to start with our basics. For a fun afternoon speeding around in a boat with friends, I’d choose a black t-shirt, fancy but water-resistant flip flops, and a gold chain to hold down the top from lifting above my chest. Don’t forget a cute swimsuit underneath, too! Can you see how easy this combination is to try? Black shirt and shoes, tan shorts, gold necklace, and gold chain detail on my shoes. Super cool and relaxed. The second way I’d wear these shorts is with a white pairing. This look would be super appropriate for a fun night of rides at the country fair. These lovely canvas shoes will keep me comfortable through a significant amount of walking. The fanciful cropped blouse allows me to get a good tan. When it gets cold, I’ll just borrow my friends’ jacket, right? Who knows, maybe it will still happen this summer. This final look includes some gorgeous accessories. Heels paired with shorts are a bold and beautiful statement. A small Versace bag should hold my phone for effortless picture taking all night long. I styled a blouse from Banana Republic and my strappy new sandals. I can’t wait to wear this outfit for an evening party with some barbeque and bonfires!
